Meet The Teachers

Wendy Livingston
This will be my fourth year teaching kindergarten at Hunters Creek.  I grew up in Gainesville, Florida.  My father accepted a job as a Professor at the University of Florida before I was born.  So my family moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Gainesville, Florida.  I am the youngest of three girls in my family.  After high school, I ran cross-country and track for the University of North Florida while earning a bachelor’s of science in Communications and Public Relations in 2009.  After spending time working in public relations and advertising, I decided this field was not for me.  Then, I transitioned into teaching pre-kindergarten for a year and a half.  During this time, I fell in love with teaching and decided to move forward into the profession.  I attended the University of Florida for graduate school.  In July of 2013, I earned my Masters degree in Elementary Education, with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction.  After graduate school I was lucky enough to land a job teaching at Hunters Creek!  Outside of the classroom I enjoy running, playing with my dog, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.


Meg Maguire

Hello cougars! Welcome to kindergarten. This will be my sixth year teaching elementary school and my eighth year in education. I grew up in San Antonio, attended Baylor University (Sic ‘em Bears!) and have lived in Houston for 15 years. I am married to Neil Maguire and we have three wonderful children. My oldest two boys are joining me this year at Hunters Creek. Finn, my oldest will be in third grade. Cael, my middle child will be in 1st grade. My youngest son, John will be in PreK at Bear Boulevard. 

Margaret Railey
A little bit about Mrs. Railey- I have a wonderful daughter Devon a graduate of LSU …Geaux Tigers!  I have an amazing son Nicolas who will be starting his senior year at UNT in Denton. In May of 2016 I married my husband Tosh and I now have two more wonderful sons. Zachary is an aspiring chef here in Houston and Gavin a fifth grader who attends school in the Woodlands.

Week of Sept. 25-29

Dear Parents, We will be using environmental print in our  classroom and we need your help! Please send examples of environmental print that you have around the house. This could be signs that are on cereal boxes, snacks, fast food cartons, magazines, shopping bags, etc. Thanks! The HCE Kindergarten Team What is environmental print? It is the print of everyday life- symbols, signs and colors found in everyday life. Examples of environmental print would be the signs used for Wal-Mart, McDonald's, LEGOs, Barbie, and Cheerios just to name a few. Why do we use environmental print in the classroom? These signs and symbols make our classroom a "print rich" environment and these symbols are the starting point for developing reading skills. Children "read" these within the context of their everyday life and it helps bridge the gap between the functional print of school and the print of the outside world.
